Bloody Mary Burgers and Crispy Square Potatoes

A quick little post about dinner tonight, I was racking my brain thinking what can I do with this blinking mince in the fridge, and was bored of bolognese so I thought ‘hmm maybe I’ll have a go at knocking up some burgers’. 

I’d say this little number is pretty healthy to because everything is oven baked and it packs some veg in there too, so what could be better? 

Makes about 5 burgers, depending on your sizing


1 small pack of lean steak mince

Half an onion, chopped finely

A small carrot, grated

2 handfuls of breadcrumbs (gf for me)

1 egg

A squirt of ketchup

A good shake and shake some more, and more of Worcester Sauce

Salt and pepper


Olive oil

Garlic salt


Heat oven to 200 degrees.

Mix the mince, breadcrumbs, onion, grated carrot, egg, ketchup, worcester and salt and pepper together in a bowl, use your hands, go on you know it feels good!  Form into patties and put on a baking tray.

Cut potatoes in to cubes, about 1 and 1/2 cm wide.  Chuck onto big baking tray, toss in a little oil and sprinkle with garlic salt.

Put both trays in the oven for about 25/30 minute, maybe crank the oven up a bit for the last five to ensure everything browns and the potatoes are crispy then serve.  We had the burgers  on their tod with the potatoes but they would work great in a bun, with coleslaw, beans, whatever you fancy.
